Welcome to Collective Care Counseling. I’m so glad you’re here.

Welcome to Collective Care Counseling.

I’m so glad you’re here.

Being human isn't easy. Some seasons bring joy and connection. Others bring grief, uncertainty, or a quiet sense that something no longer fits.

Therapy can be a place to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and begin moving toward what matters most.

However you arrive here, you don’t have to hold it all on your own.

What’s in a name?

The name Collective Care Counseling reflects a core belief that caring for ourselves is deeply connected to caring for one another.

As we reconnect with ourselves, we strengthen our relationships, our communities, and our capacity to respond to the world with greater intention and compassion. My hope is to help you build that foundation: caring for yourself in ways that allow you to live more fully and connect more deeply—with yourself and with others.

Maya Montemurro

MSEd, MSW, LCSWA

My work as a therapist is grounded in over 20 years as an educator, where I developed curricula, collaborated with fellow teachers, and taught English language arts, history, and theatre to children of all ages in a range of settings. I am also shaped by my experiences as a community organizer committed to liberatory and justice-oriented work, and by my own journey navigating grief and loss as a bereaved sibling.

I believe deeply in the inherent worth and dignity of all people, and across all areas of my life I center empathy, humanity, and a commitment to collective care.

Outside of work you’ll find me hanging out with my partner and our two incredibly cool daughters, exploring nature, voraciously reading, clumsily crafting, and taking far too many pictures of Nina, the family cat.

“It’s through an orientation toward healing and repair for ourselves and others that we recover our capacity for feeling, for relationship, and, with that, the ability to strengthen our bonds and work together.”

- Prentis Hemphill

Working Together

I offer compassionate, empathetic, and attuned care grounded in a collaborative therapeutic relationship. Together we will create a space where we can explore your experiences with care, curiosity, and deep respect for your lived experience.

The space we create will grow your capacity to stay present AND move toward what matters most to you. I believe that even in the midst of pain, it’s possible to cultivate meaning, clarity, and a deeper connection to your values. We’ll move at a pace that feels right for you, gently making space for what feels difficult while also noticing what brings meaning, grounding, and possibility.

You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin. Whether you are navigating anxiety, grief, identity exploration, or simply longing to feel more connected to yourself and the people you care about, I invite you to reach out - we can start wherever you are.

You might feel at home here if:

  • - You think and feel deeply, and want space where all of you is welcome.

    - You give a lot of yourself to others and are learning to extend that care to yourself.

    - You're navigating anxiety, grief, burnout, or a season of change.

    - You value curiosity and collaboration over quick fixes.

    - You're looking for a therapist who meets you with honesty and deep respect for your lived experience.
