Maya Montemurro — MSEd, MSW, LCSWA

My work as a therapist is grounded in over 20 years as an educator, where I developed curriculum, collaborated with fellow teachers, and taught English language arts, history, and theatre to children of all ages in a range of settings. I am also shaped by my experiences as a community organizer committed to liberatory and justice-oriented work, and by my own journey navigating grief and loss as a bereaved sibling.

Across all areas of my life, I  center empathy, humanity, and a commitment to collective care and liberation. I believe deeply in the inherent worth and dignity of all people and I’m drawn to work that explores story telling, healing, justice, and what it means to be human in community.

Outside of work you’ll find me hanging out with my partner and our two incredibly cool daughters, exploring nature, voraciously reading, clumsily crafting, and taking far too many pictures of Nina, the family cat.

Therapy can be a place to slow down, listen more closely to yourself, make space for what has been pushed aside, and begin to reconnect. I offer compassionate, empathetic, and attuned care grounded in a collaborative therapeutic relationship. Together we will create a space where we can explore your experiences with care, curiosity, and deep respect for your lived experience.

The space we create will grow your capacity to stay present AND move toward what matters most to you. I believe that even in the midst of pain, it’s possible to cultivate meaning, clarity, and a deeper connection to your values. Together, we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you, gently making space for what feels difficult while also noticing what brings meaning, grounding, and possibility.

You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin. If this resonates with you, I invite you to reach out—we can start wherever you are.
